The Weekend Metal Update!

This is a new section of the blog. A roundup of all the news and discussions that have come up over the past week. Starting off with metal! Mark your calendars, lots of new album details in this one.

1) New Meshuggah music video

Meshuggah released a music video this week, featuring the track I am Colossus off their Koloss album which released last year. It is heavy, proggy, dark, twitchy. Basically everything the band is famous for, and more.

Their EP featuring this single is still available for download here.

2) Black Sabbath’s latest album art work and audio snippet out!

Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne will be collaborating for the first time in over 30 years to produce another Black Sabbath record, to be released on June 10th this year.

I’m just hoping it will be nothing like Megadeth’s “TH1RT3EN”th album. For obvious reasons.

3) New Kalmah single! With album details!

Severe restraint being shown as this part of the update is being typed. Kalmah released their new single last week, along with details of their new album, titled “The Seventh Swamphony”.

Kalmah is a band I truly love and adore. Their last album, 12 Gauge released in 2010 was one of my favourite albums of the year. The new album is set to be released on June 17th this year. This release will surely be checked out when launched, and if the single is anything to go by, it will be brilliant. So watch this space!

4) Petrichor release a new single!

Coming closer to home now, Mumbai-based Indian progressive death metal band showed off their new track this week. Further thoughts on it coming soon, but by the looks of it, it is sick. Surely a band earmarked for great things in the future.

That’s the weekend update as far as metal goes. If there is anything I may have missed out on or a point you’d like to bring up, do leave a comment below!
